Grand Knight’s Report:Br. Jim is thankful for what we all have been doing.

Thank you to Randy, Chuck & Glenn for representing the Council at the Joliet Chapter event.

Thank you to Paul & Stanley for beginning work at the rectory per Fr. Magiera’s request.

Apologies for the barrage of emails at the beginning of the month.  Moving forward emails will be sent out to the membership as necessary, with the same commitment to transparency.

Regarding By-Laws, there is a boiler plate we can use, all we must do is fill in the information that is pertinent to our Council and how we’ll function.

GK expressed importance of increasing membership participation in the council.  He encourages us to invite members to meetings and begin mentoring relationships.  Find out their interests and help steer them toward programs they want to impact.  By modeling our actions through our activities and events other men in the parish will see what we are all about and will want to get involved.

A Council Website is something worth keeping our radar.   UKnight has a template we can potentially use for a nominal fee and cost for annual maintenance.

Saturday, December 10th is the Bishop’s Burse.  It might be too late and outside our budget for a table, but District Deputy might know if there are seats at other tables.  However, donations are still accepted if attendance is not possible.

Deputy Grand Knight’s Report:Rectory work is going well.  He and Stan have all the curtains and window treatments down, patching work is currently going on with painting to follow.  If extra hands are needed, he’ll reach out, otherwise it’s an old building and it’d be great to spruce it up for Fr.

Chancellor’s& Membership Report:Actively drumming business and interest in the council, however there is a typo in the contact information provided to the bulletin, it should be miklam14@gmail.  It its current state the “14” is missing.

He’s gotten Julian on board who we are all excited for.  The man is smart, faith filled and active in our parish community; all great traits that have the potential to attract new members.

We have name tags now and brother Knights who man the doors at Mass can engage with men as they come in.  He recommends we all have a stack of “I Am A Knight” cards on us to distribute and help us with our elevator pitches.

If Michael’s at Mass and anyone shows interest or wants to know more, let the potential brother Michael will be free to chat after Mass.

Membership is done online; next they’ll get approved by the council and lastly have an in-person exemplification (Br. Jim will check with Fr. Magiera regarding scheduling).

Recorder’s Report:Meeting minutes are distinguished by “Officers Planning Meeting” or “Business Meeting” in two places, the Header at the top of the document and in the file name of the word doc that’s emailed out.

Financial Secretary’s Report:It was stated we have no money.

Dues will start being collected after the first of the year from our current 27 dues paying members.  Notices to begin going out December 1st – 10th.

As a Council will need to do some fund raising after the New Year so we can continue to live.  A “Family Movie Night” was discussed as possible event for after the Holidays.

Despite being broke we do have a few checks in our possession.  We’ll need to plan out a budget and attempt to predict our expenses for 2023.  The month of April was tossed out as a potential timeframe of when we’d like to have our legs under us.

A PO Box will be set-up online, the ideal location is the Post Office near St. Jude’s, and the key holders will be Randall and Paul.

Lastly, an official copy of our Charter and Inaugural Membership Photo would be nice to have framed and displayed in the St. Michael Room.

Treasurer’s Report:Checks have been received from the Joliet Chapter, 4th Degree Assembly and Supreme, for now they are being held by our Financial Secretary until our checking account has been set up.

Br. Chuck distributed results of the research into which Bank/Credit Union might service our Councils needs best.

All members present agreed that NuMark Credit Union offered what we needed best.  It will be presented to the membership at our next Business Meeting on Tuesday, November 15th and put up for motion and to vote upon.

Br. Chuck will verify what is needed for the checking account set-up i.e., co-signers, EIN, organization documents etc.

Lecturer’s Report:Br. Erik has events in mind for the Council and will discuss them with Fr. Magiera prior to bringing them to membership.

Post-Meeting Fellowship is key to an active Council, in lieu of financial startup funds any post meeting activates will be supported by goodwill donation.

Br. Erik expressed interest in the possibly of utilizing one of the classrooms in the school as our designated meeting place (a benefit being, storage space).

A few events on the horizon are, a January Post-Holiday “Family Movie Night”, “Let’s Go Fish, and we’ll teach you to Fry” event for June and a summer Pig Roast.

Advocate’s Report:Br. Nick’s been heading up St. Paul Street Evangelization locally for the last 4-5 years and sees great potential for it in our parish community.

The mission of spreading the Gospel and meeting people where they are at is attractive to the Council.

It would be daylong event training held ideally in the school Gym, with a box lunch provided (offset by an “entrance fee”).

All were enthusiastic by this event/training; however, we might not be financially ready to take it on.  Nick does have a few resources already in place and will set up time with both Br. Jim and Fr. Magiera to discuss further processing and planning.

Continue praying for Bishop Hicks and the continuing good relationship he has with Fr. Magiera and St. Joseph’s Rockdale.

Warden’s Report:Br. Stan will be speaking with Fr. Magiera regarding what might be at the school we can use such Flags, Flag Holders, and Poles.

We’ll also need a Council Banner, and it was mentioned that the Knights online shop may have options.

Trustees Report:Nothing to report currently.

Membership Report:Covered in the Chancellor’s report.

Program Reports:GK’swaiting to hear back from a member regarding Faith Director, he will also take on the Community Director role, Br. Randall has taken on Life Director and Br. Paul has agreed to be Programs Director.

Good of the Order:Jim’s In-laws Ron and Marcia, Br. Sean Lynch: Soul and Family, Jim’s Friend: for gainful employment, Br. Nick’s Aunt Jackie: Soul and Family, Fr. Andrew’s cousin: speedy recovery from brain surgery and Strs of St. Joseph Carmelite in St. Louis.
